Cholesterol testing - but wait, there’s more!

One of the gold standards for assessing cardiovascular risk in this country is a cholesterol test. You’ve likely had one. You may have been offered medication (often statins) to bring your cholesterol down, without further testing of your cardiovascular system. It’s understandable - there is much evidence to support this as an immediate safety valve measure and mitigation of risk.

There is much more to cardiovascular system testing that you can do, and in our clinic, we do a thorough panel of tests so that we can get a much more full picture for you. Of course, we never advise coming off your medications - that would be irresponsible - but we can provide you with a much more complete picture of the other things you can do to improve your heart health and circulation, which may also support many other functions in your body also. What are those tests we hear you ask?

Let’s just say that we think you should know about the integrity of your blood vessels (likelihood for cholesterol to form plaques there); your level of inflammation; and more on the types of cholesterol you are dealing with (we can test more than just LDL and HDL), and simple blood tests that give us information on vital vitamins and minerals. We’re pumped (pardon the terrible pun) about your heart health, and want to empower you to take care of this critical muscle and the system it manages.

Come and see us, or book in for a zoom consult - you can fill in our heart health questionnaire before your appointment, and together let’s really find out what’s going on in there.
